Meet Lilly

The newest member of our “Once upon a lifetime” childrens portrait plan.

We had a great morning photographing Lilly and now she will have a beautiful start to her childhood portrait album. We look forward to watching her grow over the years and welcome her to the Austin Portrait Design family.

2012 Easter portraits set for Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24

Background for this year’s shoot

We are bringing back one of our favorite backgrounds from years past. Below are a few of our favorite shots from 2005. Classic looks never go out of style! Even if your child was photographed on this background in 2005, it will be fun to compare and see how much they have grown. Sessions are $29 for this promotion for one to three children. We will again offer pre-printed packages back in time for Easter.

What to wear?

As you can see from the images below, most spring colors will look great. Just remember that classic styles are always in style. If you go for a more modern look, this background will still do the job. You can’t go wrong.

Tips about getting a smile.

We have found the very best way to get a geniune smile, is to let us do our silly stuff. Telling a child to smile, in most cases will result in a “cheesy” smile. We may remind you on the day of the shoot so please don’t be offended. We know it may slip and that’s ok.

Blending classic with contempory.

As much as I love classic portraiture, it is fun to bend the rules to create a more contemporary portrait. Just a few weeks ago I had the chance to photograph Pearce and Emerson in one of our new looks. They came in with the perfect clothes to match the look and had a blast! I kept kidding them about being models since they had such an ease in front of the camera. Wall portraits and a custom coffee table book are in the plans, but I just had to share a couple of the favorites.

Lenzen and Beazley wedding in South Boston

WOW,  a  fourth of July wedding, complete with fireworks, lightning and a couple who embodies the phrase, “made for each other!” It became clear when trying to pick a few images for this blog post, that it is hard to narrow down the favorites. Even with rain changing the best laid plans, the couple and families never missed a beat and proceeded with a beautiful wedding. The Lenzen and Beazley families are now united to each other and will be a blessing to Lauryn and John Mark as they start their life together. Let freedom ring!

Andrea Parisi - absolutely beautiful!

Meet Lauren Lowe, our Fuqua 2012 senior rep.

If I had to describe Lauren with one word, it would be, “real”. Sometimes you meet someone and immediately feel comfortable, like you’ve always known them. That’s how it was meeting Lauren and photographing her senior session. She and her mom were fun to work with and we had a great afternoon photographing in the studio and on location. Lauren is our senior rep for Fuqua this year.

Technology has made it easy for lots of people to take well-exposed photographs, but good portraits require far more skill. A good, professional photographer finds or creates lighting that is flattering and looks natural. I see many photographs on Facebook that are poorly lit (no light in eyes), poorly composed (distracting elements in the background) and poorly posed (who wants to look bigger than they really are?) I want you to have the best senior portraits and the best experience possible. If that sounds like what you are looking for you should give us a call. Better yet, call Lauren first to see what she has to say, plus get a $50 discount card off of your session.
